Who are we and what are we all about? It's a question we get asked all the time. BC Bassmasters is a province-wide bass fishing club that has been formed to provide the chance for all anglers across BC to get together and enjoy the fun of bass fishing. It may sound simple, but it really doesn't need to be more complicated than that. We are a family-friendly club and we look forward to meeting you and your family for some great times on the water!

We have taken a new and bold approach to the traditional bass club. While many clubs operate in a small regional area, we have decided that there is no reason we can't provide tremendous opportunities to anglers throughout the province. Our culture is one where all anglers, new or experienced, are able to come together to learn and improve. That is the real strength of our organization.

Protecting and enhancing our bass fishery throughout the province is both our right and our responsibility as the major bass fishing organization in British Columbia. Our goal is to build positive relationships with provincial fisheries representatives to help legitimize bass fishing as a recreational opportunity in our province. Through the work of BC Bassmasters, BC Fisheries is starting to listen to the needs of bass anglers, and they are making an effort to build a partnership with BC Bassmasters to work together now and in the future.

In our view, cooperation with BC Fisheries and other groups is the best way for us to have a positive impact on where our fishery heads in the future, and we are committed to making the most of this opportunity. With BC Bassmasters, you are not required to participate in these matters directly unless you choose to. Our strength in dealing with government and other agencies comes from our numbers, and being a member, having fun, and enjoying bass fishing is all that we require of you. If you choose to be involved in discussions and recommendations regarding the future of our fishery, then we welcome the input. If you just want to fish, learn, and have fun, then you can do that too.

A guiding principle of our club is that, as members, it is our responsibility to respect and abide by all regulations. We must continue to prove to BC Fisheries and others that we do not participate in or tolerate the movement of bass throughout the province by our membership or others. The other main principle we have is that we all have fun when we are on the water together!
